Pioneer in the study of renal function in man

Born in Fochabers and educated at Milne's Institution and the University of Aberdeen, where he gained degrees in Arts and in Medicine, Arthur Cushny proceeded to study Pharmacology in various continental schools. He successively held the Chairs of Pharmacology at the University of Michigan, University College, London and at Edinburgh. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1907 and had many other honours conferred on him. Cushny's textbook on Pharmacology and his works on The Secretion of Urine and on Digitalis are classics.
